Explore the soulful, swinging sounds of mid-century jazz. Study and perform music that blends bebop with R&B, gospel, and blues influences, as developed by artists such as Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Cannonball Adderley, Miles Davis, Jimmy Smith, and others. This ensemble focuses on the groove-driven, emotionally expressive repertoire of the hard bop era, with an emphasis on phrasing, feel, and interactive group playing.

Intermediate to advanced players with substantial ensemble experience
Musicians comfortable improvising over blues and standard song forms
Participants will:
Rehearse classic hard bop repertoire
Strengthen groove and time feel
Refine phrasing, articulation, and solo structure
Deepen ensemble communication and dynamic awareness
